Matherati: Terms of Service
Please read the following terms of service, and fill in and sign the Course Enrolment form to show you have read and understood what to expect when starting a course with Matherati.
When you pay for any of Matherati's services, you agree to these terms:
COURSE STRUCTURE OVERVIEW:
How we learn:
Core courses run 3 weeks per month from September to June, apart from the exam year where courses end before the exams start (typically, courses will end in April or May).
The first week typically starts the first week of the month if the 1st of the month is on Monday or Tuesday. For further details, please refer to your Course plan overview, which you will receive together with your starter pack.
If life gets in the way:
If a student cannot attend a live lesson, a recording will be provided. If the student's questions were submitted within the usual timeframe, these will be answered during the live lesson as usual.
The tutor may announce a change in the weekly structure for one or more months - each such change will be announced with as much notice as possible.
If a tutor cannot run a live lesson, a recording of problem-solving will be offered. Students will be required to submit questions within the usual timeframe and the lesson recording will be delivered to them as soon as practically possible. In the next live lesson, the tutor will ensure all students understood everything they asked about in the previous (not-live) lesson.
Video theory and other resources will remain fully accessible and won't be affected.
Payments and cancellations:
Typically, the price of the course is £75 per month - for specific prices, please refer to the Course description page.
When booking a whole group slot as 1-1, the price is £300 per month.
Courses are payable monthly, on the 15th of the month for the following month via direct debit.
Payments are non-refundable. Cancellations are to be made by the 10th of the month, then you will not be charged for the next month. By cancelling, you agree that your place may be taken by another student and it will not be held for you. You will still be able to join the course for the remainder of the month for the lessons already paid. Then, your course access, including all resources available on a monthly basis, will be terminated.
If you currently have a discount applied, that will be agreed on and stated in our written conversation (email, WhatsApp, etc.).
LESSON LENGTH:
Each lesson typically runs for 45 mins. Lessons may take a bit longer or shorter time than planned depending on the completion of the final task, question or problem.
Towards the end of each lesson, there is always a space given to the students to ask for any final questions.
As a result of this lesson structure, every lesson may vary by a few minutes.
COMMUNICATION:
The tutor and the client can communicate together via emails, text messages, WhatsApp and other communication channels. Clients will be added to Matherati's email database to safely receive important notifications and updates. These cannot be sent individually to every client without the risk of the email landing in a spam folder and the client missing an important notification about the services. Clients should not opt-out of receiving these important emails while they attend any Matherati courses.
Clients won't be added to any regular email newsletter unless they would opt to do so themselves.
REPORTS & FEEDBACK:
For safeguarding reasons, parents cannot be given feedback during the lesson with other students present in the group. Feedback can be given in alternative forms.
HOMEWORK:
Providing additional homework and practice resources is a free part of the service. Please refer to your starter pack for more information.
SCHOOL HOLIDAYS:
Matherati courses run on an alternative schedule giving plenty of balanced learning and break times throughout the year. Some school holidays may fit into our schedule, some may not. The flexibility of catch-up recording allows you to take breaks when it suits you while staying an integral part of the course of your choice and benefiting from all features.
SAFEGUARDING:
Notes from each lesson are always provided in written form (mostly in Bitpaper). Hence, for lessons conducted online in the form of a video call (with or without cameras on), be it over Zoom or an alternative program, students/clients are not allowed to record lessons in any form.
All courses are recorded* - by starting a course, you and the student attending the course agree to this. Please familiarise yourself with the best practices for recorded lessons in the Starter pack that will be provide to you before joining the first lesson.
*lessons booked as 1-1 are not recorded if the student is present - unless recording is required (please do ask before the lesson starts)
Students who don't want to be seen or heard in the recordings can turn off their camera and/or mute their microphone.
Please read further in your starter pack the best practices to create a nice and welcoming environment to share with the tutor and other learners. Students who won't be following the recommended practices may be excluded from the live lessons with immediate effect.
COURSE CANCELLATION:
Matherati services can be terminated at any time on or before the 10th of the month in writing - this action will terminate the course and you won't be charged for the following month.
You may choose to attend any of the paid-for lessons for the rest of the current month. All resources are available on a monthly basis, which will be accessible for the rest of the current month.
DISCLOSURE:
While for the majority of students following the suggested lesson plan the expected results are overall very promising (improving by two grades on average, lowering maths anxiety, understanding maths principles and establishing the ability to apply them), the tutor doesn’t guarantee this.
Please note that:
Long-term regular tuition aims to help improve students’ knowledge and maths skills to a degree that varies for each individual. By discussing specific academic goals and following the tutor’s recommendations for the lesson plan, the student may expect the desired result.
The tutor doesn’t guarantee any specific academic results, exam grades, etc.
The tutor is not liable for any mistakes (on her side nor the student’s side), the overall outcome of the tuition, academic results, grade results, entrance application success etc.
The tutor’s work in any form is meant to be a guide for the student who is supposed to learn from it and then do the required work by themselves after having a sufficient amount of lessons.
CHANGE OF TERMS OF SERVICE:
Terms of Service may change. Clients will be informed about any changes with reasonable notice. By continuing to pay for the services, you express agreement with the said changes.
